Who is Ms.Bhaijee?
I'm your teacher.
Dear incoming 9th grade students who are FINALLY in high school, Welcome to your freshman year, and to Room 214! Your teachers in 8th grade have said such wonderful things about you all as a class, and I am so excited to work with you this year. I hope you enjoy your time in English 9, as well as meet all the goals you set out for yourself. So, a little bit about me. I did my undergrad at UC Irvine (many, many years ago), and I got my teaching credential at CalState Fullerton. This will be my second year teaching at New West, and my 9th year teaching overall (I'm much older than I may look, trust me). My number one goal in the classroom this year is to be supportive to all of YOU in achieving whatever goals you set out for yourself. My second ambition in the classroom this year is to help my students find their voice, and become effective communicators (whether that be through writing or speaking). My third goal is to help foster an environment that is supportive, collaborative, and promotes a love of reading; and even if you don't like reading, at least you will be able to say you read at least one book this year! Now that the career stuff is out of the way, you should also know I love watching live sports! Football, basketball, and especially soccer are my favorites. I’m a huge Lakers and LAFC fan, and my team is better than yours, end of story (especially if you are a Carson Galaxy fan). By the way, if you play a sport here at NWC, please let me know when you are competing, as I would love to make you a sign and come cheer you on! I did play basketball in high school, but I'm using the term “play” loosely…I was a bench warmer from start to finish. What else can I tell you about me? I am a proud Mom to an adorably naughty puppy named Marley. I adopted her a few months ago, and I'm pretty sure she has trained ME to give her treats whenever she wants. I have 5 nephews (all under the age of 5) who are the light of my life. Come to think of it, they have also trained me this summer to give them Otter Pops whenever they ask for it. I also am a pro at giving them back to their parents when they are crashing from the sugar high. I’m really excited to be working with you this year. Please, please, please…reach out if you need any help! You can always ask a question in class, via email, or stop by during my office hours. Here’s to a wonderful year together, Ms. Bhaijee |
